End of Summer Creative Schools Cluster: Create, Aspire, Transform Sharing Session

A Creative Schools Cluster session for teachers and colleagues to come and view the Create, Aspire, Transform Programme exhibition featuring artwork created by Tweedmouth Middle School and St Cuthbert’s First School pupils, who have participated in stage 1 of the programme. The session is an opportunity to find out more about joining the second stage of the programme starting in September. The Create, Aspire, Transform: North Northumberland Schools Cultural Education Leadership Programme is fully funded with support from the Paul Hamlyn Foundation and Northumberland Arts Development. We are looking for two more schools to join us for the second stage, a brief overview of the stage 2 programme is below:

  • 4 North Northumberland schools are part of the second stage of the programme running from September 2018 until December 2019

  • 3 CPD and evaluation sessions with Northumbria University for 8 teachers (2 from each participating school). Some funding for supply teacher cover.

  • Arts Award Discover & Explore Advisor Training (optional).

  • Planning and generating ideas for artist workshops with teachers and pupils to recruit 4 artists.

  • First school pupils undertake Arts Award Discover.

  • Pupil visits to exhibitions at Berwick galleries.

  • Artist introduction day in 4 participating schools.

  • Pupils visit gallery further afield such as BALTIC, Gateshead or gallery in Edinburgh

  • My School is an Artist’s Studio. Theme: A Sense of Place with 4 schools. Artist based in school for 5 days.

  • Joint exhibition for 4 schools.

  • Pupils visit exhibition (transport costs for outlying schools to visit).

  • Creative Career Path Day x 2

  • Teacher’s Cultural Education Peer Sharing Sessions (Creative Schools Cluster session).
