About Northumberland Arts Development
Berwick Visual Arts leads on visual arts development that supports increased engagement and participation with young people across Northumberland on behalf of Northumberland Arts Development (NAD). NAD is a partnership between Hexham Book Festival, Berwick Visual Arts - Maltings, Queens Hall Arts, Museum and Archives Northumberland (Woodhorn), Alnwick Playhouse and is funded by Active Northumberland and Arts Council England.
NAD provides support and advice to arts initiatives and organisations within the county in order to strengthen the sector and improve opportunities for anyone to access excellent art and culture.
- Excellence - Support individual artists and companies to improve quality and continually develop.
- Engagement - Increase opportunities for engagement through participation and education (for participants, creators of work or as attending audiences)
- Skills Development - Create an ecology where the arts are resilient and can thrive (develop capacity, resources or infrastructure required to support current and future artistic activity and coordinate existing projects effectively)
- Advocating for the arts - Increase public appreciation of the role the arts can play to secure greater investment in the arts.
